In that role, she organized a series of courses to teach neurosurgeons techniques in stereotactic surgery, and oversaw the administration of projects that led to the award of several patents. Her prior appointments include Administrative Assistant in the Departments of Neurosurgery both at the University of Arizona Medical School and The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, as well as Administrative Assistant to the President of the Texas Health Sciences Center. She has been involved with the administration of a large NIH Clinical Center Grant, as well as numerous individual grants at both those institutions. Ms. Franklin has exceptional editorial experience in the field of stereotactic surgery. She has been coeditor of the Proceedings of both the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery and the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery since 1975. During that time, she served as Managing Editor of the journal, Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, and was Managing Editor of the large publication, Textbook of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, edited by Drs. Philip L. Gildenberg and Dr. Ronald Tasker. Her involvement in stereotactic and editorial organizations led to her chairing programs for the Council of Biology Editors, the Southwest Branch of the American Medical Writers Association, and she has co-chaired meetings of both the American and World Societies for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery.
